Tui beer along with many beers first brewed in the 19th century, had extra hops added to keep a strong disinct taste over long periods of transportation. These characteristics can still be tasted today as Tui is renowned as a great tasting beer with a strong but smooth taste.

Tui Beer was first brewed in 1889 by entrepreneur (and all round smart bloke) Henry Wagstaff, who vowed to supply "export quality brews to beer drinkers around the colony". His ales quickly earned a reputation for excellence, particularly the East India Pale Ale. The beer we now know as Tui soon became a favourite drop and it's as good today as it's always been.
